This VetroScope artwork reimagines an iconic publicity photograph of Rita Hayworth from Gilda through the visual language of a classic Hollywood One Sheet poster. Combining traditional oil painting with precision-cut vinyl applied to shadowbox glass, the work transforms a celebrated cinematic image into a contemporary fine art object.
The layered composition separates graphic elements from the painted surface, creating a physical sense of depth and a dialogue between painted image, glass, and reflection. The vinyl overlay is produced using professional-grade Oracal® 651 sign vinyl, precision cut and reverse applied to clear shadowbox glass to achieve the signature layered effect unique to the VetroScope process.
Each VetroScope original is a unique, one-of-one artwork. The reverse of the canvas is authenticated with the artist’s custom studio stamp and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

At first glance, this image from Gilda appears to capture a moment of pure romance: Rita Hayworth and Glenn Ford suspended in an intimate embrace against a minimal, dreamlike studio backdrop. Yet within the context of the film, the image carries a deeper ambiguity. Their relationship is defined by an intense and destructive emotional tension, where love and hatred exist almost as two expressions of the same overwhelming force.
The enduring fascination of Gilda lies in this contradiction. A world of beauty, desire, and sophistication masking a relationship that is passionate, volatile, and deeply conflicted.
